Let’s Party
Sometimes it’s nice to celebrate the biggest. Sometimes it’s nice to celebrate the most. And, if you can celebrate both, you’ve got the makings of a really good party.
We recently shipped our largest CedarWorks swing set ever – and given some of the swing sets we have sent out in the past, this was no small feat. Made up of seven play structures connected by bridges, arches ramps and the such, the parts for this set filled 180 boxes and nearly three-quarters of an 18-wheeler. The hardware alone weighed more than 100 pounds – not including the heavy duty swing hangers.
Despite the size of this swing set, there was nothing unusual about it. Yes – the customer had a lot of yard space and a large budget, but beyond that, our custom design process and tools and team here at CedarWorks don’t differentiate between big and small. We take the same care with the smallest single structure swing set as we do with a multi-structure behemoth. And, our information systems can just as readily generate the parts list (down to each individual screw!) and packing list for a five box set as for our recent record breaking 180 box set.
On the other end of the spectrum from this enormous custom swing set is the Play-a-Round Lookout. The smallest of our CedarWorks swing sets, it is on a pace this year to newly grace more backyards than in any year since it was introduced. Maybe this is simply a reflection on the current economy, but I suspect that there is something a bit deeper going on as well.
More and more people out there are concerned about the impact of chemicals on our kids and our environment. And, more and more people are concerned about where the products they purchase are manufactured. So, when the big box stores are filled with swing sets from China made from chemically treated wood, many of these shoppers find that Play-a-Round is a much better fit for their family. I, of course, couldn’t agree more.
So, we have reason to celebrate both the biggest swing set and the most swing sets. The only problem is that we are too busy right now to do much about it. We’ll just have to wait another month or two until the pace of things here slow down a bit. By then, summer will have finally arrived here in Maine, and we can plan one of our company grill fests or lobster bakes. Or, since we have two things to celebrate, maybe we will do both.
