Rockport, ME - CedarWorks has donated a Rhapsody indoor playset to a newly created space at the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island (RMH-LI). As part of Project Design 2014, CedarWorks worked alongside designers Danielle Colding, Drew McGukin and Young Huh to create a beautiful play space for children in the Tower Lounge, the largest space in the RMH-LI Tower Building.
"CedarWorks is excited to partner with the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island to provide a beautiful play space for children who are undergoing medical treatment, and their families," stated Barrett Brown, CedarWorks owner and president. "Our hope is that this inviting play area will be a healing space where the joy of play might bring encouragement," added Brown.
The Tower Lounge, now called "Rabbits Run", was designed with play in mind. From its bold colors, fun design elements and the main focus of the space, a customized Cedarworks Rhapsody playset, there is no doubt that this space sets the stage for fun. Organized into three distinct sections, the Tower has a hot pink area zoned for play, where one can find the CedarWorks Rhapsody playset, and two lounge areas inspired by the painter and sculptor Hunt Slonem and his signature bunnies brought to life courtesy of Lee Jofa’s new collection with the artist.

About Project Design 2014
The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is a not for profit organization that provides shelter to families with children receiving lifesaving care in area hospitals. Project Design 2014 is a groundbreaking initiative in the design community created by Kavet and Anthony Batatta, the original designer of the House and creative director for the project. With the additional support of New York Cottages & Gardens, the House has received a top-to-bottom makeover by leading design tastemakers.
The Project Design program is the largest redesign RMH-LI has seen in its 28-year history. The interior design industry-led initiative began through a partnership with global fabric provider Kravet, Inc. and NYC&G magazine. In an effort to provide a calm and restful healing environment for families experiencing the pain of having a child in area hospitals, industry leaders completed redesign and renovation of RMH-Li’s original 18 bedrooms, four kitchens, a breakfast room, five common areas, first floor restrooms, and three laundry rooms. More than $2 million in design, labor, and materials were donated to this first-of-its-kind initiative. Phase II, Project Design 2014, will focus on updating the RMH-LI’s remaining spaces under the leadership of design chair Suzanne Costa and honorary design chairs Anthony Baratta and Bunny Williams.
The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is the 100th House of over 300 Ronald McDonald House programs worldwide. Located in Hyde Park on the campus of the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York, the House accommodates families in a warm and supportive environment. For 28 years, RMH-LI has been a home-away-from-home for over 19,000 families in the United States and more than 80 countries around the world who are dealing with the concern of having a child undergoing medical treatment at nearby hospitals.
