Fact #2

Bigger is better

Not always, but when it comes to the wooden posts and beams in a playset, yes indeed. CedarWorks’ custom-cut posts and beams are up to 30% larger than traditionally cut wood.

Fact #3

Fact #3

Patented Toddler Swing

We designed the toddler swing for our Classic and Architectural playsets to start out soft and snuggly to cradle your infant. Then, as soon as your little one can sit up on their own, a custom seat board can be inserted to firm up the ride, so they can sit up more easily. It's the perfect fit for all infants and toddlers until they are ready for our regular swings, and since no one else had this design, we got it patented.

Fact #4

Fact #4

Mortise and Tenon

Mortise and tenon joinery is used extensively in fine crafted furniture, post & beam homes, and CedarWorks playsets. Mortise and tenon joints are strong since the wood holds the weight, not the hardware. And the joints are beautiful because there are no overlapping wood parts and few fasteners.

Fact #1

Fact #1

We use hand spliced ropes

Sailboat riggers have spliced rope for thousands of years for all the most critical applications, yet this traditional technique cannot be automated and remains exclusively a hand craft to this day. Spliced rope is not only smooth to the touch and beautifully crafted, it is actually stronger than the rope itself! And that’s why each swing rope in our Architectural line is secured to the swing seat with a smooth, beautiful, strong, hand crafted splice.

Fact #13

Good neighbor

We consider it a priority to be a good community member. Along with our regular giving program, every year we sponsor youth baseball, softball, soccer, football, and hockey teams in our area. We also support our local nonprofit tennis and ice arena.

Fact #6

Fact #6

How many miles?

Every year, CedarWorks uses 10 miles (or more) worth of rope to make our swings and rope ladders.

Fact #19

Fact #19

Made here

CedarWorks products are crafted at our plant in midcoast Maine and at select family businesses in our area.

This means our products are made right and made on time, and that customization is no different than standard production.

It also means the environment is protected, and workers have safe workplaces and receive good wages and benefits.

We hope you feel as good about this as we do.

Fact #5

Fact #5

Ropes, not chains

CedarWorks uses custom braided nautical rope for all our Architectural and Classic swings and accessories. Why? Because our rope is stronger than chains and won’t rust or pinch. It’s prettier, too.

Fact #18

Star power

We've sold playsets to celebrities in practically every industry you can think of including Super Bowl champs, World Series winners, reality TV stars, Oscar and Grammy winners, even a US President and a European princess.

Fact #8

10% to kids and the environment

CedarWorks is committed to creating a healthier world for children. From our product design to our use of earth friendly materials, we try to do our part for future generations. And through our giving programs, CedarWorks donates 10% of profits to organizations that benefit kids and the environment.

Fact #17

Altitude Adjustment

CedarWorks swing ropes come with nifty built in adapters that let you quickly and easily change the swing height while keeping your feet firmly planted on the ground. No ladders needed.

Fact #16

Fact #16

Toddler safe

Some playset companies say to “shop as if your child is 9 or 10 years old right now”. We think that’s nuts. Only CedarWorks has slides, ramps, walls, steps, and swings designed specifically for toddlers. So if you have a toddler you can add fun, challenging and safe play with a CedarWorks playset right now.

Fact #10

"No" warranty

Our warranty is full of No’s. No need to stain your playset every year. No need to provide proof of purchase. No shipping cost for warranty items. No “pro-rated” cost sharing.  No need to negotiate with local dealer. Just call us and we will ship you what you need.

Fact #15

Maintenance free wood

Northern White Cedar, the wood used in CedarWorks outdoor playsets, is naturally long lasting and naturally splinter free. So, there is no need for paints, stains, or annual maintenance.

Fact #14

Patented tire swing

Most tire swings go round-and-round. Some go back-and-forth. But only one swing can do both. CedarWorks patented Choozaway Tire Swing features multiple rope configurations and a removable swivel so you can easily switch from conventional to centrifugal and back again.

Fact #9

Fact #9

Wood slide. Really

Our Cedar Slides are the only wood sided slides anywhere. They combine super strong custom cedar laminates, precise CNC machining, great design, and the confidence that comes with more than 40 years of making playsets with splinter-free Northern White Cedar.

We sweat them. You get to choose them. CedarWorks offers 5 flag shapes, 20 fence options, 18 roof styles, and 42 playhouse panels. And that doesn’t even include our indoor products.

Fact #12

Fact #12

Chemical free wood

No chemicals injected into the wood. No chemicals brushed onto the surface either. That’s because Northern White Cedar is naturally long lasting and naturally splinter free - and it is the only wood that CedarWorks uses.

Fact #11

ReCedaring for good

Northern White Cedar, a species native to Maine, is what we use to make all of our outdoor playsets and playhouses, so every year in May we donate Northern White Cedar seedlings to small woodlot owners and environmental organizations in the state. Over the years we have given over 500,000 seedlings away!
