Thomas College Students Inspired By CedarWorks Donation

Art Students Turn CedarWorks Scrap Donation into Inspired Art

CedarWorks recently donated scrap wood and plexiglass to the Advanced Seminar in Expressive Arts class at Thomas College in Waterville, Maine. Instructor Maryam Mermey had a vision of what her students could do with these materials and the results were beautiful pieces of art. Mermey engaged students by letting them use their imagination to design wood burning, paintings and mixed media art. 

"Thanks to CedarWorks generous donation of three huge bags of wooden shapes and pieces of plexiglass for the Thomas College Advanced Seminar in the Expressive Arts wood painting project, the students took the vision of wood painting and ran with it," stated Maryam Mermey, Thomas College professor. "How wonderful to be able to extend the imagination of playing on play sets to playing with and creating art out of the infinite possibilities of wooden and plexiglass shapes, all thanks to the good will of CedarWorks," continued Mermey.

CedarWorks scrap wood and plexiglass come from their facility in Rockland, Maine where they manufacture the most kid-friendly, parent-friendly, and earth friendly play products available anywhere. "We are excited to see our scrap pieces come alive through the creative efforts of young artists," stated Barrett Brown, CedarWorks owner. "Giving back to programs that support young people and the environment is at the very heart of CedarWorks and this donation proudly supports both," added Brown.
